Christmas Tree Species - Noble Fir

Noble Fir (Abies procera)
A wild Noble Fir can grow to over 180' high. The mature trees provide the best colour foliage for Christmas wreaths and decorations. Needles are blue-green with a silver appearance thanks to the 2 white rows of stomata on the underside. Bark is smooth and grey. Not being the easiest of trees to grow to an ideal shape, they are still very popular, particularly in Ireland where soil is moist, deep and rich. It's a very popular Christmas tree, with great needle-holding properties.
