Christmas Tree Species
- Norway Spruce

Norway Spruce (Picea Abies)
Still the classic, traditional Christmas Tree, and remains one of the
best cut tree sellers. Famous for its pyramidal shape, beautiful deep
green colouring and a fresh clean pine aroma. In the wild, Norway Spruce
trees grow from 120' to 230' high, and diameter may reach as much as 2'
on mature trees. The Norway Spruce is identified by its dark green needles
and drooping branches. Trees have a dark green crown, with triangular
shape. Needles are 4-sided and 1/2' to 1' long, sharp at the tips. Although
sometimes confused with true firs, spruces in general have rectangular
rather than flat needles, and cones that hang down rather than stand erect
on the stem.
